Weekly Update: Week 30

Prego Complaint Warning: The following message contains excessive whining, complaining, moaning, grumbling, and borderline childlike tantrum behavior. Be advised to skip the following paragraph all together if you don't wanna hear it, have no sympathy, or just don't care (no hard feelings).

I'm convinced heartburn is going to kill me and I'm almost just willing to let it happen. The lava that likes to creep its way up my chest and into my throat burns so bad it keeps me up most nights and has driven me to tears on more than one occasion. It's like someone poured gasoline down my throat and then lit it on fire. Like an angry dragon lives in my chest cavity. I try to tame the beast, but to no avail. "Take Zantac" my doctor tells me, but it only takes the edge off. "Get ultra-strength Tums" the pregnancy books advise, but you can only take so many before you hit the daily max advised. "Don't eat acidic foods" all the websites say, but the raging fire comes even with plain, white toast. FML. I've never been in so much pain, nor been caused so much discomfort, in my entire life. I know it makes me sound horrible, but I hope pregnancy heartburn is hereditary.  End rant.

In other news, Gavin and I had a fun date night this week. We went to a restaurant called Vino and had some delicious Italian food and great conversation, followed by the movie Lone Survivor. I highly recommend seeing this movie if you don't mind a little war-gore and can handle all the different emotions it throws at you. It was such a great movie and I'm glad we saw it in theaters -it just won't be the same on the small screen. Gav and I were also able to catch up with our good friends Alex and Sarah afterward. Being the crazy kids we are, we stayed out until almost 1am! It's been a while since I've been out that late. Haha! Only a few more weeks of being able to have a stress-free, babysitter-free, night out on the town for us.

From a round fruit to a long, skinny veggie I guess. Weird.
  • Baby Girl's size: a cucumber (or so all the websites tell me)
  • Baby Girl's weight: 2 3/4 lbs
  • Cravings: Chewy Runts candy
  • Best part: Only 10 more weeks to go!
  • Worst part: Heartburn, aches and pains, hourly bathroom breaks
  • Her development: Her brain is getting more wrinkly -to make way for all her smarts; her skin is getting smoother; and she is strong enough to grasp a finger.
  • My development: Nothing too new here, just the continuation of the Braxton-Hicks and my ever expanding waistline. Apparently I get a hormone boost in the next few weeks which will make me even more emotional that I already am.
